The advertisement refers to the recent passage of a $260 million literacy assistance program supported by Coverdell. “I am in favor any legislation, including literacy programs, which creates opportunity for our children,” stated Coles. “Unfortunately, it seems that Coverdell only tries to improve public education two weeks out of the year the final two weeks of an election.” “Its important to remember that during his first term, Paul Coverdell has done more to undermine public education than to improve it.
