Atlanta, GA -- Today Michael Coles, Democratic candidate for the United States Senate, reiterated his challenge to Paul Coverdell for a series of debates across Georgia in a letter sent to Coverdell. Coles first issued the challenge during his acceptance speech on Primary night after winning the nomination by a wide margin. “I challenge Paul Coverdell to a series of debates from Rabun Gap to Tybee Light.” Coles stated. “It is time for Paul Coverdell to defend his record and be held accountable for failing to represent the hard working families of Georgia on the issues that matter most to them.” Coles noted that Georgia voters deserve a chance to hear directly from the candidates on the issues important to them, such as health care, public education, and veterans’ medical benefits. Coles has asked Coverdell to participate in at least eight debates across all parts of Georgia between now and the November 3rd election. “It is essential that we give the voters of Georgia an opportunity to hear from us on issues like veterans’ medical benefits and health care because the differences are clear and the choice is clear,” stated Coles. “Paul Coverdell’s votes on these and so many other issues are shameful.” # # # |
